Not beer! I’ve heard of rubbing a little rum on their gums but not actually giving them a certain amount no that is never ok.

no, its not a good idea, not even a drop

That is ridiculous who would feed beer to a baby. Now, back before we had orajel, moms used to rub whiskey on baby’s gums to help with teething.

  4. Trying to help Says:

no i havent heard that one! but i think any good parent would NOT give alcohol to their baby no offence! xx

my fam is caribbean and we did the rum on the gums thing which does work. Also, they used to give babies a drop or two of rum to help settle them down and put them to sleep. I was one of those babies that this was done to and I turned out fine.

rum on the gums will certainly help to soothe.

I am sure there are alternatives to beer for teething or gassy babys. Alcohol should not be given to children in any quantity for any reason.

NO BEER! I am actually allergic to beer and did not find out until I was 17 years old. I have a severe allergic reaction with my throat closing and my tongue swells, so please don’t give your infant any alcoholic beverages!

I don’t know about everyone else but beer makes me burp. So I would think that it would make a baby even more gassy. I have never heard of this. Besides, three to four ounces is like a third of a beer. No I wouldn’t do it.

  9. mammasan28 Says:

see, i would think beer would make them really gassy. im from the south and they used to use whiskey on the gums.

Please do not give your child beer or any kind of liquor. It is wrong, why people do these things i have no idea but it makes me sick. Just use a little orajel or frozen chew toy or even a damp washcloth thats been frozen. If the baby has a problem with their stomache then a doctor will point you in the right direction on which stomach drops to give your baby if they need it at all.

first of all while in school, you should be paying attention in english class and learning how to spell babIES. and also the correct usage of there (should be their), not talking about giving your baby beer in class. where are you from? i would never think of giving baby beer. sheesh

  12. kleedotcom Says:

3 or 4 oz on beer is a HUGE amount for a baby and would not only get a baby drunk it would probably end up in alcohol poisoning and whoever gave it to him would end up in jail.

We rub a drop of whiskey on the gums (its the irish)
