tingly tounge? should I go to see the dentist or dr?
October 11th, 2009 Posted by: admin
hello can anyone advise… I have just started with tingly tongue & back of gums… have had gingivitis treatment in the past… but I suffer from anxiety and think I may have started to clench my teeth in the night.. I take an anti depressant dolusepin to help me sleep at night as it causes drowsiness… recently the brand changed and as one of the side affects is dry mouth…. I’ve also changed toothpaste too…
now I’m worrying myself to a state because I don’t know whether it will go on its own, I’ve bought a mouth wash for sore mouths & gums and been rinsing with that 3 times aday… it seems to relieve it but when I think about it it feels like the sensation increases… I can eat ok and taste ok but my teeth kind of ache when they sit on each other… do you think I’m mad? please please can someone advise if I go to th dentist i’m freak that he’ll pull all my teeth out or do work unnecessary because I have phantom symptoms… if i go to the Dr’s suppose I can get another script and try and get the other brand of tablets.. or is it more serious?? very worried & scared… :((

Can they tell I smoke?
October 3rd, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am a 16 year old boy and I smoke on average 4 cigarettes a month. I have braces. I always brush my teeth twice a day, I floss everyday, I use mouth wash everyday, I chew flavored gum after each cigarette to help with my breath, and I even put this stuff on my teeth to make it them whiter ( or a least what parts aren’t covered from my braces) From what I told you would it be noticeable to the dentist or orthodontist that I smoke?

Can dentist fix gapped front teeth in adults and what is the procedure?
September 21st, 2009 Posted by: admin
Does any insurance cover getting front teeth with a gap taken care of ? And what do the dentists usually do with that type of situation ? Do they put on only a brace for the front teeth or is it to late when an individual is older? What is the usual span of how long it takes for the procedure to work?

Can a high filling cause a tooth infection?
September 17th, 2009 Posted by: admin
About 3 months ago I had 3 molars filled with the white filling material. I had not had a tooth filled since I was in Jr. High (I’m 36), and was not aware that a tooth filling could be “too high”. I experienced pain and soreness when biting down, even on the other side of my mouth. Anytime my fillings made contact with my other teeth the pain was excrutiating. I thought that maybe I just needed to give it some time, so I waited 2 1/2 weeks before going back in to see my dentist. That is when he informed me about the pain and soreness that a high filling could cause. He filed it down, and I waited. After another week, I had pain only on one tooth, so I returned to have that filling reduced again. After that visit, I found significant relief. I still did not feel comfortable chewing on that side, but it didn’t hurt, just some discomfort when I bit down. Well 5-6 weeks later, pain has returned along with significant swelling on the gum under that tooth. Now what could it be?

My gum hurts 2 weeks after having a bloody dental cleaning. What do you think is wrong?
September 17th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months faithfully. I floss and I brush my teeth at least 2 times a day with Crest. I went to the dental hygeinist 2 weeks ago and she was scraping away. She was digging at my back teeth and telling me she thought maybe it was a problem with a groove in my teeth. The cleaning took about 1 hour. Finally, she quit and now the gum around my very back tooth on the right side will not quit hurting. Its raw and is starting to hurt up into the roof of my mouth. What is wrong? Should I go get treatment. Last time I had any dental work by this particular dentist, he made fun of me and didnt believe he was hurting me during a filling. I am a tough old bird and have had a lot of dental work by another dentist, but moved and this one is covered on my insurance. I cannot chew food on the r side of my back teeth.
